Teen Issue Paragraph

The issue that affects me most is going after the bad influence of other people.Alot of people fall into peer pressure. But when it comes to me I can usually overcome these challenges. For example, I had once seen this girl that her friends told her to try some stuff. They told her “You Want To Try This”? She said yes just to make herself seem cool or popular. What this means is that it is difficult to say no when you want to fit in or be like everyone else. This  also means that people don’t say or act who they really are now days. For some people it’s hard to be themselves because they think other people won’t like them .

I would describe South Central today as a positive place to learn. There is a really good, positive thing about South Central, there are many churches around.South Central teaches you many different things on the streets. Here at South Central teachers look more dedicated on what they are teaching. The negative thing is there is more people that need help like bums.Another negative thing is there are many dangerous things and people out there. The three most important  events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central, LA what it is today are The Early History Of Watts,LA Riots, and The Crack Epidemic.

The first event that has made South Central what it is today was The Early History Of Watts. It’s important because of who founded LA.The Tongva and Chumash Indigenous people did.The original name of LA was ‘“El Pueblo De Nuestra Senora  La Reina De Los Angeles  Sobre El  Rio Porciuncula. There is a historic monument area called Olvera Street. But blacks and latinos started LA.Pio Pico was the first Governer of California. It’s important because most of this didn’t change at all.

The second event was the LA Riots. The LA Riots started because a man named Rodney King was severely  beat for like 15 minutes. Before the LA Riots there was a big truce between the Crips and Bloods. When Rodney King was being beat they were being video taped without knowing.A girl named Latasha Harlins was shot in the back of her head by the store owner. The store owner that shot and killed Latasha was not put in jail. She was fined $500 dollars and probation. The police that beat Rodney King was not put in jail either.

The third event that has made South Central what it is today is the Crack Epidemic.Crack is a form of drug cocaine. This drug creates a short high.followed by tiredness, depression, panic, anxiety, and brain damage. The drug came to South Central, LA  in the early 1980’s. Because of the drug the crime rate went up.It was brought from Nicaragua a Central American country. At that time Nicaragua needed money to fight the communism. They gained money by selling crack in the ghettos of the U.S.The drug was shipped from El Salvador to Texas and Arkansas to L.A.This is important because many families got separated.

These events changed South Central because the Crack Epidemic separated many families. The L.A. Riots killed many people. The Watts history is important because the long name L.A. had changed to a smaller name.It will changed based on the Crack because they don’t want their families to break up.I don’t think they want to pass through that pain again.People will not want to start a Riot again because it killed many people.I don’t think South Central will change as much.I just hope the gang violence goes down.
